Fortunato Cimino was born in San Francisco to an emigrant mother from Florence, and a first generation Italian father. He is the first son and has two older sisters and two younger brothers. While being brought up in an Italian family with all its traditions around the kitchen and working together with family, his life changed dramatically when he spent his first summer in Italy at the age of thirteen. The experience of Florence and climbing Giotto’s bell tower, sailing around the Isola (island) di San Pietro and eating fresh baked foccacia in Camogli set him on a journey that many only dream of. Fortunato visited Italy so often that he clams to have visited more places in Italy than most Italians living in Italy. Fortunato also lived in Florence for over a year in 1987 and then in 2002 he lived in the Emilia Romania region of Italy for over 3 years.
His ancestors came from Florence and Siena, Camogli and the Isola di San Pietro. From these diverse experiences and regions, came a passion for exploring Italy, tasting la Dolcia Vita. When Fortunato is on the fertile land of Italy he feels a sense of peace and connection to the land and to his soul. In fact, he believes that there is No Greater Strength in that of being connected to your heritage as it in turn awakens your soul.
Fortunato’s greatest joy and most treasured accomplishment is having his beautiful daughter become fluent in the Italian language and have her live in Italy and experience the culture as a young teenager.
Fortunato has a passion for his heritage. Come along with him and read, travel and experience No Greater Strength, Your Italian Heritage.
